At the moment the Lion of Judah Church has around 100 members and many guests. We have a team of 5 full-time ministers and also offer an opportunity to workless people, and to people sentenced to prison to work at our church. Through this we help them to become stable, equipped and trained.
Out of the work the Lion of Judah Church e.V. does, new ministries were born. Like an apostolic team for people who want to found new Christian churches or Missions.
The centre of the week builds the weekly service on Saturday night at 7.30 pm: fresh worship, encounters with the Holy Spirit and His power, prophecy, healing, the word of God through powerful preaching and prayer turns it into a vivid happening.
One of our goal is to train our members an ministers in a way that enables them to become bold disciples of Jesus who naturally handle the gifts of the Spirit and impact their environment positively through becoming more like Jesus themselves.
The Lion of Judah Church e.V. is a non profit organization. It is listed at the Amtsgericht Frankfurt am Main, titled with the registration number 12498. It is financed by donations only.
The Lion of Judah Church is member of the “Evangelische Allianz Frankfurt “ which is a gathering of all the evangelical free churches in Germany.
Alice Van Menxel, since 1977 a fulltime worker of the international missions organization Youth With A Mission (YWAM) came to Frankfurt in 1987 called by God with the vision of starting something new in the midst of Frankfurt.
Following God´s direction she moved to the area of the Main Train Station in the midst of drugs, prostitution etc. Beforehand, in a time of prayer, Jesus had shown her in the Spirit the house where her ministry would start and even the room. Supernaturally she got that place through a prostitute: It was in an old broken house where the Drug scene was established since years.
Alice started a so called "Friends evening" there in her appartement. The meeting kept growing up to 20-30 people a night. Later they had to use rooms of a neighbouring church, where they grew up to 80 - 90 people from the scene, prostitutes etc.... Alice and her 22 co-workers gave out food, evangelised, had a music program and practical help of all kinds. Soon they seriously started thinking about planting a church.¦
But Jesus led Alice on! In obedience to the Lord she moved to the historical city centre called Roemer. Being a part of YWAM Germany she evangelised there, living as a painter amongst the painting galeries (Her former profession). In her appartement she started a weekly prayer-meeting which became today´s Lion of Judah Church: This prayer-meeting grew up to 37 people and became a church service.
In 2001 through Youth With A Mission Alice was sent to found the Lion of Judah Church Frankfurt and set in place to pastor the church. When asking the Lord where to go He showed her one more time the area of the Main Train Station. Supernaturally He opened up suitable facilities, which many compassionate hands renovated, at Niddastr. 49. The church had its sanctuary and a prayer room on the 4th floor and a Café, kitchen, offices and Guestrooms on the 3rd floor.
The Café, where warm food hass served to homeless and needy people Wednesday through Saturday evening was the starting point of several mercy ministries within the Church. Food were being prepared, clothes are gathered and given away to needy people on the streets of the Main Train Station area. On Friday afternoons at the Healing Rooms we had offer prayer for physical and emotional healing.
